After Years of Waiting, Team Voice Chat Is Finally Coming to League of Legends

Ptslot – After many moons of solo queue frustration and reliance on pings and text chat, League of Legends is finally preparing to introduce full team voice chat inside the game. This long-anticipated feature has been spotted in testing on the Public Beta Environment and is expected to be rolled out in an upcoming patch, giving players a new way to coordinate with teammates during matches.

Riot Games is adding voice communication so that all five players on a team — not just premade friends — can talk to each other during games. Until now, League of Legends only supported voice chat for players queued together as a pre-made group, leaving solo queue teammates unable to communicate through audio in most matches.

The voice chat system seen in the PBE appears to allow players to toggle voice comms on or off in settings, choose between push-to-talk or open mic modes, and adjust their microphone setup much like Riot’s tactical shooter Valorant. According to dataminers, Riot is also building moderation tools into the system, including options to report “voice comms abuse,” suggesting that safeguards against toxicity will be part of the launch.

Importantly, Riot plans to make team voice chat opt-in, meaning it won’t be enabled by default for every player; users who prefer to stick with pings and text won’t be forced into voice comms if they don’t want it.

The feature is geared toward Patch 26.5 (expected in early March 2026) and is already being tested live on the PBE server. While Riot hasn’t made an official release announcement yet, the inclusion of detailed UI elements and voice moderation code strongly indicates that voice chat is close to becoming a reality for LoL players worldwide.
